2024 Colorado Natural Gas Rate Review

Following significant investments in safety and natural gas system integrity programs to make Colorado’s natural gas system safer, more reliable and resilient for customers, we submitted a proposal in January 2024 to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to update our natural gas rates. These essential investments include the installation of new and upgraded infrastructure and strengthened safety, inspection programs and security improvements to ensure a robust system to serve our customers.

The Commission approved several rate changes after reviewing our proposal. New rates effective Nov. 5, 2024, will increase the average residential customer natural gas bill by $4.57 per month (or 7.72%). The average small business customer will see an increase $17.49 per month (or 6.98%). Even with these changes, Xcel Energy-Colorado’s average residential natural gas bills will remain lower than the national average.

Energy Saving Tip

Make sure to regularly change the air filters on your HVAC system (at least once per month). Old, clogged filters are far less efficient than new ones.

Break Ground, Not the Law

Always call 811 before digging in your yard to avoid hitting buried gas or electric lines. Not only is it the safe thing to do, but it's the law.
