Overview
Did you know that for just $1.37 a month, you can start purchasing renewable energy through Windsource? Over 1,200 homes and 40 businesses in Wisconsin currently support renewable energy through Windsource, one of the nation’s leading voluntary green power programs.
The renewable energy you purchase comes from wind farms in Minnesota that help supply energy to Xcel Energy’s customers in Wisconsin. Xcel Energy retires Windsource renewable energy credits (RECs) on behalf of our customers. These RECs cannot be counted toward the renewable portfolio standard enacted by the Wisconsin state legislature.

Since its inception over ten years ago, Windsource customers across Xcel Energy’s service territory have purchased more than 2 billion kWh of renewable energy. When you purchase renewable energy from Windsource, you are supporting:

Windsource subscriptions are available in 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) blocks for a small additional premium of $1.37 per block. You can sign up for as little as one block or opt to have 100% of your electricity provided through Windsource (for around $10 per month for our average customer). Your monthly charge and purchase amount show right up on your monthly bill.
We require a one-year commitment for residential customers and your Windsource premium shows up right on your monthly energy bill.
Who Qualifies?
To qualify, you must be an electric customer of Xcel Energy in Wisconsin.
