Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.
Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.
In Wisconsin, our operating utility Northern States Power Company-Wisconsin is primarily engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity and the purchase, transportation, distribution and sale of natural gas to retail customers. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin regulates the company for state issues, and federal regulatory agencies oversee other aspects of its operations.
Xcel Energy announced it would file a request with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin to increase electric rates and maintain natural gas rates effective Jan. 1, 2010. The increase in electric rates is necessary to continue to maintain safe and reliable service for its customers and support ongoing investments in cleaner sources of energy. The proposed increase has been partially offset by recent decreases in electric fuel costs. In addition, the company is asking that there be no change to natural gas rates through December 2011.
