Our products and services differ based on state. Please select your state (or the state you're interested in) from the list to the left.
Why do our products and services differ based on state? Because our business is regulated by state. We have regulated operations in eight Western and Midwestern states. The different regulatory body for each state we serve determines what products and services we deliver in that state.
Supporting employees’ contributions to the community is not only a wonderful way to help them make a difference, but also a tremendous source of pride for our organization. Our employees spend countless hours providing leadership and volunteer services to nonprofit organizations in our communities. Through our Matching Gifts programs, the Xcel Energy Foundation supports and recognizes these efforts.
Cash Matching Gifts to Higher Education and 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organizations
The Xcel Energy Foundation matches employee and retiree donations to eligible 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations dollar-for-dollar, up to $750 per employee per year. Donations to higher education institutions are matched up to $2,000 per employee per year. In 2010, employees contributed a combined total of $710,634 to nonprofits and higher education institutions. With the corporate match, these gifts amounted to $1,323,542 in community impact.
Dollars for Doing
The Dollars for Doing program encourages and supports employee volunteerism by making a financial contribution for each hour that employees volunteer at qualifying 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Through Dollars for Doing, the Xcel Energy Foundation matches up to 100 hours of an employee’s collective volunteer time each calendar year at a rate of $10 per hour. In 2010, the Xcel Energy Foundation contributed $103,650 to nonprofit organizations in support of 18,368 hours of employee volunteer efforts.
Volunteer Energy
Teams of six or more Xcel Energy employees who participate in a community volunteer project are eligible to participate in the Volunteer Energy program. Through Volunteer Energy, the Xcel Energy Foundation makes a donation of $500 to the associated nonprofit organization in appreciation of the employee team’s volunteer efforts. Nonprofit organizations can receive up to two Volunteer Energy cash awards each year. In 2010, the Foundation contributed $59,500 to the designated nonprofits of employee volunteer teams.
United Way
Our award-winning United Way campaign shines on many levels, and we are especially proud of the generous pledges made by our employees and retirees. The Xcel Energy Foundation matches all employee and retiree pledges dollar-for-dollar. In 2010, our impact totaled more than $5.4 million for 170 United Ways across the nation.
